Robbie's of Islamorada (Sunset Tour)

Happy Cat, a 43' catamaran, is located at Robbie's Marina and offers two tours daily, a trip to historic Indian Key & Lignumvitae State Park (3 hours) as well as a sunset cruise (2-1/2 hours). The Indian Key trip departs at 8:30AM & 12:30Pm daily and visits Indian Key, an island that was once the site of a great salvaging business from shipwrecks and housed the largest population between St. Augustine and Key West. In 1840, the island was overrun by the Seminole Indians and the city burned to the ground. Today the island is overgrown by tropical plants but you can still see many of the ruins from this once thriving city. Now designated as a state park, you can swim, sunbathe, hike, picnic and snorkel/dive in the beautiful surrounding waters. Second stop on this tour is Lignumvitae Botanical State Park, a tropical hardwood island that was once the home of William Metheson, who in 1919, built a caretaker's home with a windmill for electricity and a cistern for rainwater. Ranger-guided tours are given twice daily at 10AM & 2PM to give you the history of the island and tour the house, cannons and other outbuildings and it is also an ideal place for snorkeling/diving and picnicking. The sunset cruise leaves the docks around 6PM and gives you a glass of champagne as well as a ringside seat for the gorgeous sunset. Note: They do allow you to bring your own personal cooler with drinks and food.
